Though the votes may not be completely counted yet, it looks like Andreas Andreou will be joining us on tapestry as a new committer! A much needed infusion of more help is definitely needed.
I think I’m done designing my new set of changes for tapestry 4.1. A hectic workschedule has kept a lot of this back but things seem to be normal enough now for some real progress. The first victim, PropertySelection, will receive a lot of the initial work. JSON writers have been added. Tons of deprecated code has been removed. All bug fixes/etc from the 4.0 branch have been merged back in. Weeeeeeeee! If things keep going well we should eventually be able to use testng. (still waiting for the new surefire maven code to move into the main repo )
I’ve also been doing a lot of consulting based around building pure dojo based client applications (with a minimal db persistence layer coming from the server via json ). Learning directly from the masters while working side by side on dev projects is definitely one of the better moves made recently. All of this will be immediately benefited in the new designs I have in mind for tap 4.1. It won’t change things from the server end overly much, but there are definitely plans to enhance the crap out of the @Script component, as well as the construction of a complete client side API that extends dojo’s widget system (as well as a few other core parts, like dojo.storage/etc..) to allow a completely clean integration from server->client. No more slight library enhancement drop ins.
